I absolutely love it when traveling somewhere ends up being less expensive and more accessible than you previously would have guessed. It makes any adventure seem that much more attainable!
Here are three times when I was daydreaming about a trip, did some research, then found round-trip flights for about half of what I had expected. Maybe you’ll find inspiration for your next low-budget much-needed vacation!
1. PHL -> FLL = $70
This is my upcoming trip. My boyfriend and I are going to Miami…and you can get round-trip flights for $70! That’s the equivalent of 3 fancy dinners, or maybe an expensive weekend at bars.
We’re flying out of Philadelphia, jetBlue, and into Fort Lauderdale, which was slightly cheaper than Miami itself. Then we’re renting a car, because that will end up costing less for the extended weekend than taxis or Ubers to/from the airport would have. Combined with Air bnb, it’s all quite affordable. Stay tuned for photos.
3. EWR -> HND = $489.95
These airport abbreviations are perhaps the most cryptic, but this was from New Jersey to Tokyo! Newark to Haneda airport, round-trip. And I am not making that number up! I was expecting to pay just under $1000 for this airfare, and I am still not even sure how I found it for so cheap! Google flights is the best resource I’ve found for comparing flights between various airports and dates.
Are you surprised by these airfares or is it just me?! Either way, I am all about fewer barriers to travel and adventure.
Where do you shop for your flights? Any tips for finding cheap airfare? I would love to hear about them in the comments:)
